The course
Distances
Both races start together. The 10-mile course is two loops of slightly different lengths, and the 5-mile course is a single loop. Marshals will be on hand throughout to help you stay on course. Water stations are at 3 and 5 miles, plus the finish for both races, with an additional stop at 8 miles for 10-mile runners.
Terrain
The route is a mix of farm tracks, footpaths, woodland trails, and short sections of road, with no major inclines. Part of the course crosses private land, so please don’t train on these sections before race day and save it for the day itself.
Roads
The course includes four very short stretches on quiet country roads. These roads stay open to traffic and will be marshalled, but please stay alert. The route also crosses a working farmyard, so for your own safety, please keep to the marked course at all times.
Venue
In 2027 we’re returning to Cammas Hall Farm, a family-run farm set in the beautiful Essex countryside, with a café, bar, farm shop, and playground on site. Bring the family and make a day of it!

Parts of the route cross private land. The GPX files are provided for race-day reference and must not be used to recce the complete route before the event. On race day, always follow the course markings and marshal instructions rather than relying solely on your watch.

Race history
The Stort 10 has a long established history, starting in the early 1980’s. The original format of the was a 10 mile road race around the roads of Bishop’s Stortford, and it was widely regarded as one of the fastest 10 mile races in the country.
From here, the race start moved to Bishop’s Stortford Rugby Club, with a mix of trail and country roads around the village of Farnham.
In 2016 the event moved to a new home at Hatfield Forest, and for the first time introduced a 5 mile option, taking in the various rides of the forest. The event was held here for 3 years, with the final event taking place in July 2018.
The race found a new home a few years ago and now takes place each May at Cammas Hall Farm on the outskirts of Hatfield Broad Oak. This location and the facilities at the farm give the race a real festival feel where the whole family can enjoy a day out.

Entry and registration
How much does it cost to enter?
Entry costs £30, but we offer an early-bird entry at £28 until 31st October 2026. England Athletics affiliated runners get a £2 discount, as do members of Bishop's Stortford Running Club.
What is the minimum age for entry?
Entrants must be at least 16 years old on race day, Sunday 16 May 2027.
Where does the race take place?
The event takes place at Cammas Hall Farm, Hatfield Broad Oak, CM22 7JT.

Can I transfer my entry to another runner?
Yes, you can transfer your entry to another runner provided it's done before the transfer deadline (this gives us time to prepare race packs).
You can do this yourself through the entry portal, using the link in your original registration email.
Can I change from the 5 mile to the 10 mile race? (and vice versa)
Yes, you can switch distances provided it's done before the transfer deadline. As with transfers, this is to allow time to prepare race packs, and you can make the change yourself through the entry portal. Just select your new distance from the dropdown.
I entered the event, but can no longer make it, can I get a refund/defer to next year?
Unfortunately we cannot offer refunds or deferrals when an individual runner is unable to attend. Entries may be transferred to another runner before the published transfer deadline.
Is the race chip timed?
Yes. Both the 5-mile and 10-mile races are chip timed, and results will be published online shortly after the race. Your results will include your chip time.
Race prizes are awarded using gun time.
Are there any prizes?
Trophies will be awarded to the finishers as follows according to gun time:

We will also award a Mixed Club Prize for both races with the top three team members scoring.
Can I run the route beforehand?
The route crosses a mix of private farm tracks and public footpaths, so we're not able to let you preview the full course in advance.
However, Cammas Hall Farm is open to visitors from late spring to autumn if you'd like to explore the farm and its facilities.
Accessibility
Wheelchair access is possible in many areas of Cammas Farm, but due to the uneven ground on the course the race is unfortunately not suitable for wheelchair users.
There are disabled parking spaces near the entrance to the barn and disabled toilet facilities are available.

Stort10 wouldn't happen without its volunteers! We have both running and non-running roles, on the day before and the day itself.

Can dogs participate?
Dogs are not able to take part in the race itself, but well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome at the farm and are able to spectate near the finish
On the day
What time does the race start?
The race is scheduled to take place at 10:00 on Sunday, 16th of May 2027. We advise you to arrive at least 45 minutes before the start to allow you sufficient time to collect your race number and get ready to run.
Please note that the 5 mile and 10 mile race begin at the same time and you are expected to attend a race briefing 15 minutes before the race starts.
What is the terrain like?
The course is mainly on grass, farm tracks, field edges and woodland paths, with a few short road sections. Some tracks are rutted or uneven, and sections can become muddy after rain.
What shoes should I wear?
Trail or hybrid shoes are recommended if the weather has been wet. Road shoes may be suitable in dry conditions, but runners should expect grass, uneven farm tracks, roots, ruts and occasional muddy sections
Is there parking?
There is free parking near the start/finish area to the front of the tea barn, and we will have marshals to help you park.
Whilst there is space for everyone to park, we would appreciate that you car share wherever possible.
Can I wear headphones?
Bone-conducting headphones are permitted, but other personal audio equipment is not allowed for safety reasons, and runners found using them risk disqualification.
You may encounter members of the public on the course, such as dog walkers, and it is essential you can hear marshals and other runners at all times.
Do you offer a bag drop?
There’s a baggage tent at Race HQ where you are welcome to leave any bags, or you can leave belongings in your car (the car park is right next to the finish area).
Please note items left at Race HQ or in vehicles are at your own risk. Neither the event team nor Cammas Hall Farm can be held responsible for any losses.
Are there toilets and changing facilities available?
There are plenty of toilets (including accessible toilets) available on-site near to the race HQ.
Unfortunately there are no changing facilities so please arrive ready to run.
Is there food and drink available?
Absolutely, there are lots of different food and drink options at Cammas Hall, including wood fired pizzas, burgers and sandwiches, as well as a bar selling soft and alcoholic drinks.

General information
Can spectators attend?
There are no spectator points along the route, but there is a large viewing area at the finish line.
There is plenty of space at Cammas Hall for spectators, and lots for them to do while you are running, so bring your family and friends along.
How do I get my race photos?
We will have photographers stationed at points around the course, and race photographs will be published on the Stort10 Facebook page after the event.
We will add links to the albums from the Stort10 website once they are available.
Event changes or cancellation
The Race Director may alter the start time, shorten or change the route, postpone the event or cancel it where this is considered necessary to protect runners, volunteers, spectators or the public. This may include severe weather, unsafe ground conditions, loss of access to the venue or course, emergency-service advice or another circumstance outside the organiser’s reasonable control.
Any decision will be communicated through the Stort10 website, email and official social media pages as soon as reasonably possible.
If the event is postponed, entries will normally transfer to the replacement date and entrants will be told what other options are available. If the event is cancelled and cannot be rearranged, we will confirm the available refund or transfer arrangements in accordance with the published entry terms and applicable consumer law
